Youre not a coach or therapist youre a business owner

You would think that being the most caring, passionate and approachable Coach or Therapist would make you successful. Unfortunately, there are loads of people in your field that have less empathy than you, a worse bedside manner, and yet they're fully booked. Unfair? Maybe. The answer? They know how to market themselves.

You have to change your mindset from thinking

'I'm a _____'

and realise that actually

'I am in the business of marketing and selling ____'

As a qualified helping professional, if you're self-employed then you're an entrepreneur. And the most important skill on your list is the ability to market and promote yourself.

Stop thinking like a helping professional, and start thinking like a business owner. You have skills, but if you can't market those skills, they mean nothing. If you have the fountain of youth in your back garden but you don't know how to market yourself, you're going to live a long time broke!

Always realise that your mindset rules the level of your success. To change your results you must first change your mind. When your mind is set, and you refuse to see problems, and you focus only on the solutions and opportunities available to you within any challenge, you will always find a way through (because there is always a way), and you will always grow and prosper in business.

Remember also that you don't actually have to work with people face to face. I have many clients who sell products online and never see a live client.

This can mean the difference between you having a bigger income in 12 months time or not. It's easy to lose track of what we're trying to accomplish and why. Once we do, we lose clarity and focus - when you lose clarity and focus, you're all over the place and you eventually end NOWHERE.

This week increase your knowledge about marketing. How do your competitors get clients? What have you done before that worked?
